Students design houses using limited supplies to
withstand simulated earthquakes!
The Robotics class helped design and construct an earthquake simulator using VEX robotics parts. The Earth Science students used a predetermined amount of supplies and had to construct a house to fit a certain standard for height and base area. Designs were tests by placing sandbags on the floors and roof to simulate a heavy load. Each house was subjected to 30 seconds of both vertical and horizontal shaking, simulating real world conditions.
