On the night of our Homecoming dance, members from Segment 7 Films (an independent film crew comprised of LVCP students) recreated a performance of the "Epic Patty Cake." The total production time came in around a total of three hours, but the performance itself they did in just one take. Amazing!
This year we are proud to announce our first ever Artist-in-Residence collaboration at LVCP with Bay Area professional trombonist and educator, Andy Strain! Mr. Strain is working closely with members from the LVCP jazz band, and was also a featured performer at our fall student recital.
This year we hope even more classes will join in a true celebration of project-based learning and participate with Ms. Ward Kelly's art classes in the cardboard challenge! See the one sheet below for more information and enjoy our photos from last year's students who participated in art, creative writing, robotics, architecture, dance and physical education classes.
In May 2014 the Film Production created a short film about life in the 1940s titled “Boondoggle: Mission Bay.” In this project student wrote an original screenplay, directed the actors as well as created original art direction. The location for the film was chosen as Pier 45 in San Francisco which is run by the San Francisco Maritime Museum and contains the decommissioned WWII submarine the USS Pampanito. With some clever costuming choices and a strong setting the Film Production class ran the production crew for and edited the film completed with original sound design, score editing and color correction.
