LVCP's Math classes led by Department Chair Anthony Anderson and Ms. Ward Kelly's Graphic Design class are taking part this year in a National initiative to bring coding skills to high school students. This spring, all students enrolled in math or graphic design will complete an online, self-guided, introductory coding course. And thanks to a partnership with DonorsChoose.org and Google, each participating CLASS will earn $1,000 or more in project funds for completing the courses. Each student gets a certificate for $100 toward a class project fund and a class that has at least ten students who are traditionally underrepresented in computer science (girls, or boys who identify as Black, African American, or Latino) will receive a bonus $1,000.
Not only will students have this fantastic opportunity to learn skills directly related to our course content and the 21 century learning skills we teach at LVCP, but these funds will directly help fund the very project supplies students will work on this year.
